Jalapão Desert - Tocantins
Exuberant and exotic Landscapes, open pasture mixture, savannah and desert. Wasteland and primitive, the Jalapão is imperdível script for the loving ones of the adventure, with attractive for varied and demanding kind of people.
The hot region and dries, reaches annual average temperatures of 30 centigrade degrees. The time most appropriate for visit is between April and September, in the drought station, when the absence of rains, facilitates the access to the arenaceous tracks. In an oasis in full open pasture, we find the wealth of the native vegetation, growing in the sand, under the heat and intense sun.
They are beaches of clear sands and limpid waters in the river Sono, river Sono and some brooks that sprout of the springs between the bushes and fields. In a brief stroll it is possible to appreciate in the Jalapão, beaches, waterfalls, set of mountains, lakes and dunes, landscapes that only seeing to believe.
 
Is one of the localities of lesser population density of the States of Tocantins with 1,3 inhabitants for Km². The population of the Jalapão has as economic activities the agriculture of subsistence, the extrativismo and the cattle one. The natural beauties point new economic perspectives. The ecoturism starts if to structuralize, providing a bigger generation of jobs and income to the population.
The experienced tracks and roads that cut mountain ranges and small cities, are proper for adventurers and demand cars utilitarian tracings or, drivers and mainly guides who know the Jalapão.
